boat with a planing hull
Boats with planing hulls can skim along at high speed, riding almost on top of the water rather than pushing it aside. flat-bottomed and vee-bottomed hull shapes act as planing hulls. most small power-driven boats, including personal watercraft (pwcs) , and some small sailboats have planing hulls, allowing them to travel more rapidly across the. V-shaped hulls "v-shaped" hulls are planing hulls, and are the most common type of hull for powerboats. deep v-shaped boats are designed to plane on top of the water at higher speeds and provide a smoother ride through choppy water. these boats are usually equipped with a larger engine than flat or round-bottomed boats..
boat with a planing hull Planing hull. on the other hand, boats with a planing hull are designed in such a way that they are able to glide on top of the water with great speed if enough propulsion is provided. slower-moving boats like sailboats typically employ displacement hulls, while power boats and are typically built with planing hulls.. I would like to know what is, in theory only, the optimal design for a planing hull in terms off power/planing-speed/hull resistance for lightweight dinghy. the reason for this is that i can't (legally)a hull longer than 2,5m and i'm also restricted in power (3,5kw). which means, very slow hull speed, very "short" power to plane that damned thing..
