plywood boat without fiberglass
Note: resin without hardener is never used. always add hardener in the 5 to 1 ratio. about the cloth the fiberglass cloth used in fiberglassing a typical plywood boat must be compatible with epoxy resin. although most cloths will work with epoxy, there are some that are not compatible.. I'd forget any fiberglass cloth on that boat but use a good quality bs1088 marine plywood or such. coat the hull with epoxy to achive a saturation not a build. you can clear coat the inside, that is an epoxy that is made for leaving the wood bright.. On smaller, simpler, low-powered boats without a lot of curvature, i see nothing wrong with this practice, and again, have not heard of such a boat disintegrating over time because of it. q: why should i cover my plywood boat with fiberglass? a: we generally recommend covering all plywood boats with fiberglass no matter how small. while some.
plywood boat without fiberglass Fibreglassing onto plywood - sheathing a boat's wheelhouse - duration: 500 rotten, festering blisters!! - blister repair on a fiberglass sail boat! (patrick childress 59) - duration: 16:33.. Mix and apply fiberglass filler, to eliminate any air gaps between the plywood and fiberglass and round off the edges of the plywood. total time: 45 minutes. (note – if you’d like to improve the final looks with a smoother finish, allow the filler to harden completely and then spend an additional 30 minutes grinding it down)..
