Boat Lift Cable Snapped

boat lift cable snapped

The dock holds her pontoon boat, and has a boat lift. well, about three weeks ago during a big storm, one of the cables snapped and dropped the boat. no serious damage, but since then the boat has been taking some abuse from the wind and waves. my mother-in-law called her usual dock/boat maintenance guy, who promised to get to it as soon as. I was in a boat when the lift cable snapped. yes, very exciting to say the least. no damage to the boat though, so that part is also likely correct. i would exhaust all other options before resorting to that. do you have a local dock/lift installer who could come out with their barge and maybe take some weight off the boat using the lifting rings?. Most lifting cables are galvanized with a stainless blend. all stainless are too brittle for strength to lift a boat. leveling cables are mostly all stainless. once the galvanized starts to rust then its time for some new cables. the rubbing and twisting will surely speed up the wear out process..
