boat not getting on plane
Getting on plane. the smaller the boat, the more effect crew positioning will have on the boat's ability to plane. if everyone sits on one side, the boat will not ride level; if all the crew rides in the aft cockpit, the stern will be depressed, and getting the boat up onto plane may be impossible. passengers should be evenly distributed.. Getting you're boat on plane shouldn't need full throttle but a good portion of it to get it on plane. the more throttle that you use, the faster it gets there. you can then dial it back. if you want it to stay on plane at a lower rpms, i'd look into smart tabs as they're an inexpensive a great way to maintain lower speeds and remain on plane.. Once you are getting on to plane you adjust them up so they do not create a drag once you are going faster. you can also ajust the side level of the boat, once under way by adjusting the seperate sides. you can get trim tabs that adjust themselves using water pressure only and they work pretty well but there is not much boat side adjustment to.

Last year i bought a 2009 legend xcaliber with a merc 115 hp 4-stroke, and was amazed at how difficult it was to get the boat to plane, even with only a couple people in it. it would take 15-20 secs, but once on plane it ran like a top..
